As the capital of Spain since 1576, Madrid City hosts many historical Spanish monuments. The Royal castle and Spanish museums like El Prado and Reina Sofia (with paintings of Velasquez, Goya, Picasso and Miro) are only a few of the many great attractions the Spanish city presents. Here the holiday and fun do not stop for a minute. Having spent a considerable part of the 20th century in isolation as a totalitarian form of government, Madrid has rushed on a world scene with the energy reminding rough blossoming of the Golden Age in Spain in 16 centuries when artists and playwrights have flooded a brilliant Royal Court and created in the glory of the country. Connecting Iberia with the world in which the Latin people and cultures have intertwined, the Spanish capital an possesses an inexhaustible passion for art, music and pleasures. The known Spanish saying says «From Madrid to heavens» ("De Madrid al cielo"), meaning affinity of the sky. Really, in the centre of the Castillian Plateau at a height of 500 meters seems that it is possible to touch the sky. The sensation of special space appears because of a combination of ancient buildings to a red tile roof, churches from a red brick, and roofs and spikes from the grey tile, the monarchs of the Gabsburgsky dynasty left to the descendants.
